The Mission of Good Shepherd

Mission Statement

Stain Glass Window

We hear the Shepherd's voice and follow him
            in worship and witness,
            in prayer and discernment,
            in teaching and learning,
            in service and outreach,
            and in celebration.

The following goals have been endorsed by the members of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd:

  1. Empower ALL members to discern God's mission for us, in order to become commissioned disciples.
  2. Be a training ground for discipleship, showing unyielding faith in our future and God's plan for us.  Foster meaningful connections with God, with each other, and within ourselves through spiritual enrichment opportunities, educational opportunities, and expanded ministries of care and compassion.
  3. Mentor each other into active discipleship roles that match our gifts and passions.
  4. Establish equal access to both our congregation and our physical facility for all people in the community.
  5. Strengthen the spiritual foundation of all congregational groups, equipping members to work together in teams, grounded in prayer, in a common mission, and in a vision for the future of the church.
  6. Form a west-side ecumenical coalition of churches which engages the community in building positive and healthy youth activities.
