Ruby’s Pantry began at Good Shepherd in March 2014 and each month we see over 250 shares of food going to families. With over 75 volunteers each month, we unload a semi full of food, set-up and distribute the food and clean-up all within a matter of hours. It is the first Thursday each month (with the exception of April being moved to April 9 due to Holy Week), with registration beginning at 2 p.m. (until 6 p.m.) and distribution by
4 p.m. until all have been served. If you would like to volunteer, we welcome you to join us. Please fill out the application form and bring it with you when you come. If you would like to purchase a share, it is $20 cash. Don’t forget to bring your baskets to bring your bounty home. If you have questions about this program, open to all – no financial restrictions – please call the church office at 715-834-2959.
The mission of Ruby’s Pantry is: To procure and distribute corporate surplus food and goods to help fight poverty, hunger and disease in rural communities in the United States for those with low resources and in crisis through churches, food shelves and other local civic organizations. To develop the ”Blessing Box” concept to activate people in being alert to the needs of others and to be proactive in encouraging, showing friendship and meeting tangible needs of struggling neighbors, friends and strangers regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.
