|I grew up with two parents, two older siblings and two younger siblings. The constellation was chronologically symmetrical: my brother was six years older, oldest sister four years older, and my younger sisters four and six years younger. I felt equally connected to both of my parents. I am a middle child.
I’m fairly certain that growing up in the middle had contributed to my interest and abilities to work in the areas of mediation, conflict transformation, transitions, and coaching. I am most comfortable and at my best when I am in the middle of things – helping groups reach a consensus, make a decision, or chart a course; helping parties figure out what to do with their differences; leading congregation between pastors (interim ministry); and helping leaders who find themselves in complex conflicted situation develop, choose, and implement strategies for dealing with the conflict.
We hear the Shepherd’s voice and follow Him:
In worship and witness,
In prayer and discernment,
In teaching and learning,
In service and outreach,
And in celebration.
